In upstate New York, our communities are facing a challenging and unique situation…
Convened by Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter and Greater Rochester Chamber President & CEO Bob Duffy, the Consortium for Safe Communities (CSC) began meeting in Rochester, NY in October of 2022 to explore solutions to improve public safety. Recognizing there are many factors contributing to the diminished level of safety in our communities and across our state, the group collectively agreed that the CSC would be laser-focused on improvements to legislation. As such, our mission statement was developed: Improve public safety by achieving legislative tools to keep us safe.
We have identified four legislative concepts we feel would have positive impact on safety in our communities. These initiatives are detailed in a letter to lawmakers published here, which also provides for the opportunity for community members to indicate their support by signing a petition.
Recognizing many citizens across New York State share our concerns and recommendations for improvements, the CSC has established chapters in Niagara County, Erie County, Finger Lakes Region, the Mohawk Valley, and the Capital District.
We encourage you to read this letter, reflect on the potential risks to your own safety and that of your loved ones, and understand how your support through our online petition can make a real difference. Your signature is not just a formality; it is a crucial step towards safeguarding our community and restoring peace.
Together, we can influence change and create a safer environment for all. Thank you for your support in this essential cause.
